I am pleased to be writing a letter of recommendation for Gary Land. Gary has many years of experience in carpentry, painting, flooring, cabinetry, and construction. Gary recently built custom cabinetry for our kitchen remodel. From the beginning, Gary was easy to work with, keeping open lines of communication and offering expert ideas to add to the project. He created detailed drawings to show us what the end product would look like. From the ground up, Gary constructed, painted, and installed our custom cabinetry. His many years of working in the cabinetry industry certainly showed. He was detail-oriented with precise measurements and calculations to give us exactly what we had wanted. Gary was also able to install a sink, counter tops, microwave, dishwasher, toe punches, trim, spice racks, and a coffee bar. He didn’t leave out any details, also installing hardware, top of the line hinges and slides, and door stops. As mentioned, his attention to detail was superb. Gary didn’t cut any corners. He used hardy lumber that wouldn’t easily dent, or scratch. He carefully spray painted each cabinet with scratch-resistant paint, and caulked edges to make them seamless.
Gary has been reliable in his work ethic, integrity, and craftsmanship. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I am confident in his abilities to provide customers with the product they are looking for and even going above and beyond to give them ideas they may not have thought of.
If Gary runs into an obstacle, he is great at problem solving and coming up with positive solutions. He is able to quickly learn new trades and is very good at researching to continually learn and grow. For these reasons and more, I would highly recommend Gary for any carpentry, painting, flooring, or other construction trades he may apply for.
Sincerely,
Scott Robertson
I am a sole architect with a practice based in Seattle, Washington and have owned and operated my business for the last 12 years. I primarily work on residential projects but have several years of experience with commercial tenant improvement with three projects in my portfolio of work. My social media presence can be found on Instagram at MyersArchitecture.
I have known Gary Land for the last four years from the start of a new construction 5,000 sf home located in Cle Elum Washington. His role was a specialist carpenter with Town and Country Home Builders. The Ironwood project was a very special project for me, being both the owner of the home and the architect. Gary was an important collaborator with me for some key elements at the finishing phase. He stood out among the carpenters at the start of framing, and I began to see his diligence, attention to detail and workmanship.
Therefore, I commissioned Gary to build two custom barn doors, a built-in double bunk bed frame, a custom 11’ long Sugi Ban (custom torched) bench and curated letter wall. The final elements were constructed from a hand sketch with a rough design vision for final finish. Gary was able to provide me an estimate for material quantity, cost of labor and materials and finish date. Each commission came in on time and budget and the end finish showed a careful expertly crafted element that pleased both Gary and I. I trusted Gary to advise me for the final finish on each element and his production was photograph worthy.
He was also responsible for so many finishes on the home. He stained and coated a 9’ tall Sapele Pivot Door that is still in great condition. He installed the full set of custom built-in cabinetry in the home which included five wall armoires, vanities, media room and kitchen. He has breath of knowledge with large scope of framing and small scope of furniture construction. He is level-headed and can collaborate at any level of scrutiny and complexity.
I would highly recommend Gary Land for any curated and custom carpentry and finish work. I trust him to provide finish work with excellent craftsmanship. He is attentive, hard working and dependable. His skills can be applied to any project that includes flooring, carpentry and painting but his true expertise is highly valued for specialty elements and furniture design with a hand application finish.

We had such a great time working with Gary on our custom wall-to-wall buffet. I needed particular function to be joined with a beautiful finish.
The Result:
It is unique to me
My possessions will fit in it
And it flowsperfectly into the rest of my home as if it has always been there.
I needed someone with a creative eye that didn’t put my ideas in a box. I received so much more.
